College Life Coach 12 Tips for Surviving Your First Week of College
Entering College can be a scary task. If you are not prepared you will use up unnecessary energy on getting to know the place. Time will be wasted on searching out book stores, libraries, student centers, lockers, classes, parking space and on and on.
Here are some tips from College Life Coaching:
1. Gather as much information and knowledge about your new place of higher education as you can. Google is a great asset!
2. Make a list of your thoughts, questions, uncertainties, unknowns.
3. Now do searches until you locate the answers to each and every question.
4. Use Online Guides, phone calls, directories, former students, LinkedIn.
5. If you will be moving to another city, get to know that city.
6. Search all means of transportation, city maps, fitness centers, free recreation.
7. Proper food and meals are extremely important to maintaining your energy and staying healthy so right now practice preparing at least 3 of your favorite recipes from home. Keep it simple!
8. If possible get a list of text books needed and if money is an issue search for used text online.
9. One week’s work in college/university can be equal to a month in high school so to jump start your first term, prepare a tentative weekly plan.
10. In this weekly plan account for every minute. Allow time to relax. Your brain will retain more and be more creative with scheduled relaxing periods.
11. Get regular sleep. College can offer many fun activities interfering with your rest but you are there to learn so use your better judgment.
12. Develop a passion for learning. Work hard, study hard. This is just the beginning!
“ They wouldn’t be so amazed if they knew how hard I worked”.

Have a great College Life.
